Throw powerful, sexy, full-on and majestic sounds together and
you get Wasteland! A bone shaking hard rock band from
Nottingham, England, formed in May 2010.
This awesome band are Josh Kay, Matt Wainman, Mario
Casado and Dom Ridley. Since the early days, Wasteland
broadened their horizons and are now hitting cities with live
performances and have just released their Debut EP “From
Their hard hitting music appeals to a huge range of fans,
spanning young and old, male and female. Their amazing
ability to gain interest at a phenomenal speed never ceases to
amaze the band or their fans.
When asked, Wasteland threw together an extensive list of
bands that they felt had influenced them, many of which can be
heard through their style of playing. That said, Wasteland have
such a unique and trademark riff that encompasses many of
their songs and coupled with outstandingly written lyrics gives a
pleasurable sound which passes through the crowd like a
breath of fresh air.
Hard rocking bands such as Papa Roach, Megadeth,
Metallica, Shinedown, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold and
Nickelback have all majorly influenced the band, making them
who they are today, a unique, awe inspiring, fresh new sound to
the rock music market.
Since 2010, Wasteland have played gigs in venues such as
The Old Angel, The Salutation Inn, The Bodega Social Club, all
in Nottingham and the Asylum in Birmingham. The most recent
gig at The Bodega was to promote the release of their newly
produced debut EP, which was received with great eagerness
by their fans.
A huge achievement for the band was hitting the semi-finals of
the Surface Unsigned Festival back in 2011 and one of the
band’s goals is to reach the finals of and secure a place in the
festival for 2013, with new material being prepared in
A proud moment for the band was the first airing of their
material on a regional radio station, Siren FM in 2011. The
band have since been aired on different shows throughout the
station and are awaiting a review of their new EP.
The future for this band looks extremely bright, with aims of
releasing an album early next year, and securing financial
backing from a recording contract. The band are currently
promoting their “From The Ashes” EP on radio stations and
with gigs around the country.
Fans can expect a more polished and vigorous sound from the
new EP and from future performances will not disappoint.
